우연히 바빌론이라는 노래를 들었다.검정고시를 하던 20대 초반 어쩌다 디스코텍에 가면 이런노래를 흔히 들을 수 있었는데 그래서인지 귀에 익은 멜로디였다.
영성공부를 하면서 바빌론은 바벨탑과 같이 중요한 자리에 기억되어 있다.
바벨탑이 인간의 교만과 관련이 있고. 바빌론도 고마움을 모르는 인간에게 벌을 주는 뭐 그런 내용이다.
그 시절 음악을 들으면서 유대인들의 눈물과 후회 그리고 다시 에루살렘으로 귀환하고나서의 충성과 맹세를 생각한다.
BC587년 느부갓네살에 의해 갈릴리 호수를 건너 바빌론으로 유배되었다가 무려 70년이라는 세월을 보내고 난 후에야 에루살렘으로 돌아온 유대인들의 애환과 충성맹세가 귀에 들리는 듯 하다.
바빌론 강가에서 라는 노래는 이러한 역사적 배경으로 탄생한 노래다.
